Here at Agency Inc, we’re big fans of Christmas cheer but 2021 was (to put it a bit mildly) a complicated year. Sending out our usual gifts to clients and partners felt a little tone deaf, so we decided to focus on what we know – making the complicated simple. That meant putting our Christmas gift budget somewhere where it would do the most good.

We chose to donate on behalf of every giftee to United World Schools (UWS), an organisation that develops community schools for children in remote and extremely poor regions of Cambodia, Myanmar and Nepal. Their ambitious 10-year goal is to provide access to life-changing education for 250,000 primary-aged children across the globe.

We loved UWS’s ethos and mission statement – after all, what better gift is there than education? Supporting their efforts felt especially right during a pandemic where so many of us became acutely aware of the challenges of supporting young people through disrupted schooling.

But in the rural and inaccessible communities that UWS supports, astonishing levels of ingenuity were required to keep their young people learning, as all 226 of UWS’s school were forced to close in March 2020.

Thanks to United World School’s efforts
– Over 43,000 children have experienced long distance learning over the pandemic
– 175 communities have had their washing facilities upgraded

– 148,000 people have received essential Covid-19 training

As schools across the globe begin the process of safely re-opening their doors, we’re so proud to have played a small part in UWS’s incredible efforts to keep education accessible under extraordinary circumstances.

We thank our clients, partners, and friends for their generosity, and we are so proud to know that with our contribution we are helping over 19 children!
